The European Commission has ordered several member states to return millions of euros of EU farm money that has been poorly allocated or mismanaged.

In total, €161.9 million from the coffers for the Common Agriculture Policy has to be returned.

The money is to be recovered from the UK, Ireland, Greece, France, Spain, Italy, and Portugal.

France, which receives the most from the fund, has to pay back the highest amount (€77.13 million) for giving direct aid for ineligible land while Spain, next on the list, has been asked to pay back €33.4 million for weak management.
