Last Thursday, Poland’s new media bill turned into law, turning its nose at EU i’s numerous concerns. The government’s media reforms give the treasury minister power to appoint heads of public TV, radio and civil service. The Commission is set to come up with its first position analysis on Wednesday. ‘Our major concerns are related to these laws’ impact on the Rule of Law and EU democratic values’, stated Richard More O’Ferrall, Greens Group spokesperson. The Greens Group calls on the Commission and the Council for more concrete actions.
