Environment MEPs reject GMO plan 47 to 3

The European Parliament's environment committee has rejected, with 47 Yes votes, 3 No's, and 5 abstentions, the European Commission's proposal to give member states the power to ban imported GMOs, asking it to withdraw the plan. A plenary vote follows on 28 October, but another rejection is expected.
