EU drops 'dirty' tar sands oil label

The EU on Tuesday dropped plans to label tar sands oil as highly polluting drawing wide-spread criticism from NGOs for caving into pressure from Canadian and US energy corporations. EU Climate Commissioner Connie Hedegaard said the initial proposal had changed due to "resistance faced in some member states."
