Deens voorzitterschap presenteert prioriteiten aan Commissie en Parlement (en)
24 presentations by 15 ministers in 16 EP Committees over 3 days
Following the presentation of the Danish Presidency’s main priorities by the Danish Prime Minister, Ms Helle Thorning-Schmidt i, on 18 January in the plenary of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, 15 Danish ministers will travel to Brussels next week to present the more detailed priorities to the Committees of the Parliament.
Starting on Monday 23 January, the Minister for Economic Affairs and the Interior, Ms Margrethe Vestager, will present and discuss economic issues and financial regulation in the Committee for Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) and ending on Wednesday 25 January where the Minister for European Affairs, Mr Nicolai Wammen, will debate institutional issues with the Committee for Constitutional Affairs (AFCO).
The presentations in the Committees will be an opportunity for the Committees and the Ministers to discuss the details of Presidency priorities: From the international agreement on the “Fiscal Compact” to the “Energy Efficiency directive”, to “antimicrobial resistance”, to prices on the use of mobile phones (“roaming”) and to trade agreements with Japan and India just to name a few examples.
The Minister for European Affairs, Mr. Nicolai Wammen, states: “With the 15 ministers’ presentations in the Committees of the Parliament, we are effectively now in a “working mode”. Our task is now to establish that constructive dialogue with the members of the European Parliament on the single issues that will be decisive for achieving common results for the benefit of Europe and its citizens during the Danish Presidency. My colleagues and I look forward to fruitful discussions with the Committees of the European Parliament.”
