‘We have a key European Council ahead of us. We hope it demonstrates full determination to defend the euro,’Secretary of State for European Affairs Mikolaj Dowgielewicz commented on the GAC Council session he will be attending on Monday. Its main goal is to lay the groundwork for the European Council on 9th December.
Poland is actively involved in preparations for the summit of EU heads of state and government in Brussels and ceremonial signing of Croatia’s Accession Treaty. The ministers attending Monday’s meeting will also consider conclusions on economy and energy policy. A working lunch will be devoted to economic governance.
At the EU Council, the Polish Presidency will present a report on the progress of work done on the draft Multiannual Financial Framework for the years 2014-2020 since the publication of the European Commission proposals on the subject. The participants will also adopt conclusions concerning future strategies of EU enlargement. During the GAC meeting, the European Commission will present a programme of work for 2012 and the Annual Growth Survey 2012.
