Bijeenkomst over cultuur in Poolse stad Lublin (en)
On 12th-15th October, Lublin hosted an informal meeting of senior officials from the culture ministries and senior officials tasked with cultural issues in the foreign ministries of EU Member States.
Also present were representatives of European Union candidate countries and - in view of the priority attached to the Eastern Partnership - of Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Those attending took part in panel discussions devoted to the European Union's public diplomacy and the role of culture in its external relations. Krzysztof Stanowski, Under-Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MSZ), presented the Report on the State of Independent Culture and NGOs in Belarus, the preparation of which had been co-financed by MSZ.
The participants were given opportunity to familiarise themselves with the cultural heritage of Lublin and the region and with diverse activities of the city's NGOs and local authorities, aimed at stimulating cooperation with Eastern partners.
The meeting was organised jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
