EU dicht bij overeenkomst introductie van rechtbank voor patenten
‘Entrepreneurs operating in the SME sector need a single, simple and, above all, cheap system of patent recognition. The EU is very close to agreement on the introduction of a single patent court for all Member States,’ Deputy Economy Minister Marcin Korolec underlined. The conference ’The Future of a Single System for Resolving Patent Disputes in the European Union’ was held in Warsaw on 23 September.
Korolec commented that the establishment of a Single Patent Court would mark an important step towards the harmonisation of the EU's internal market - a goal that is among the priorities of the Polish Presidency i. Today, patents are recognised by the respective national courts of Member States, often with different results in neighbouring countries. ‘A single regime for resolving disputes and recognising patents in the EU will facilitate the implementation of statutory freedoms and will stimulate innovation and competitiveness,’ Korolec argued.
Judges, lawyers and businessmen from EU countries took part in the conference organized by the Ministry of Economy in collaboration with the Academy of European Law.
