Samenvatting van de eerste maand van het Pools voorzitterschap (en)
The first 11 meetings held in Sopot under the auspices of the Polish Presidency are now history. They were attended by 1,800 delegates and ministry representatives. The media were represented by 821 accredited journalists. Meeting participants made use of a 117-strong fleet of Presidency vehicles.
Seven informal meetings of European Union Member States’ ministers took place. They were devoted to employment and social policy, the environment, development, justice and internal affairs, competitiveness and European affairs.
According to information from the catering service, 4,200 sandwiches were consumed, half of them at the press centre.
Journalists and other guests had at their disposal 30 plasma television sets and 70 computers. And entangling the lot was 23 kilometres of cables.
At the start of September, two additional informal ministerial meetings are being held in Sopot: foreign affairs (according to the Gymnich formula) and transport. Subsequently, Wroclaw will be the city playing host to the Polish Presidency’s main meetings, and the People’s Hall will be the principal venue of informal ministry-level meetings.
