The Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the European Union “will do everything in its power” for the Digital Green Certificate - aimed at facilitating safe and free movement of citizens within the EU during the COVID-19 pandemic - to be concluded by June.

Admitting that intense technical work still needs to be done in order to conclude the legislative package that will enact it, the Secretary of State pointed out that “the Digital Green Certificate, as a way of providing complete information on COVID-19 vaccination, gives us hope that we can perhaps resume more normal life in the summer. We're on a very tight schedule and we have to keep on working".

Ana Paula Zacarias chaired the meeting of Ministers for European Affairs, where the European Semester 2021 cycle was also discussed, as well as its coordination with the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Finally, the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU informed the Ministers of the preparatory work being done for the Conference on the Future of Europe, aimed at involving citizens in broad debate on the future of the Union in the next decade.
