Opening - Parliament stands up for human rights in Venezuela, not oppression

President Tajani i expressed Parliament’s concern for the suffering of the Venezuelan people, at the opening of the session in Brussels.

“The European Parliament i cannot stand by in silence” said President Tajani. The European Parliament gives its support to Juan Guaidó, he said, adding that peaceful solutions need to be found, so that Venezuelans can return to normal life and have access to food and medicine.

The President also offered his condolences to members of the family of the recently murdered mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz, who were present in the chamber.

Wednesday

Council and Commission statements on "The UK’s withdrawal from the European Union" are added as the first item;

A statement on the “Situation in Venezuela” is added as the fourth item; the debate is to be wound up with a resolution, to be voted on Thursday.

The Commission statement on the “State of the US-EU trade negotiations" will be moved up as the sixth item and the Commission statement on “NAIADES II - An action programme to support inland waterway transport” will be postponed to a later part-session.

A debate on the report by Mr Corbett on “Amendments to Parliament's Rules of Procedure”, is added as the last item before the One-minute speeches.

Thursday

The Joint debate on “Gender balance” is the first item in the morning;

If no request for a vote in Parliament on the decision to enter into negotiations is made by Wednesday 12.00 midnight, the committees may start negotiations.
