Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă attended the official ceremony dedicated to the International Holocaust Commemoration Day, held at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels

As part of the visit to Brussels on January 23-24, 2019, Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă i attended on Wednesday, January 23, 2019, the ceremony of commemoration of the victims of the Holocaust, organized by the European Jewish Congress, under the patronage of the President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani. The event was attended by both European senior officials, and outstanding members of the European and international Jewish community.

The Romanian Prime Minister delivered a speech in the opening of the event, in which she evoked the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, emphasizing at the same time the need for strengthening the joint European and international efforts to combat Antisemitism and proliferation of any forms of discrimination.

The Romanian dignitary also presented the importance the Romanian Government attaches to the measures to fight rasism, intolerance, xenophobia, and the hatred speech, as an integral part of the programme assumed by Romania at the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă outlined the actions undertaken towards combating Antisemitism, actions which place Romania in the position of regional leader in this process. Last but not least, Prime Minister underlined the importance of education in cultivating tolerance among future generations, by promoting models of humanity and courage, and the common European values.
