Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee MEPS will quiz Germany’s finance minister, Olaf Scholz on furthering economic and monetary union, on Thursday at 10.30.

MEPs will stress the importance of moving ahead with ambitious actions to complete economic and monetary union, seen as the only way to stabilise the Eurozone in the medium term. They will also be keen to hear more details on the general proposals made recently by Germany on achieving economic and monetary union.

In December, the European Commission launched its roadmap for completing economic and monetary union and since then, various ideas have also emerged from member state governments, including those hashed out during the Franco-German leaders’ meeting in April.

WHEN: Thursday 12 July from 10:30

WHERE: József Antall building (JAN), room 2Q2
