Annemie Turtelboom took up her duties today as a new ECA Member from Belgium.

Ms Turtelboom has been appointed as an ECA Member from 1 May 2018 to 30 April 2024. The ECA’s College of Members will meet shortly to assign her to one of the five audit chambers and determine her specific duties. An updated organisation chart, along with her CV and declaration of interests, will then be published on the ECA website: eca.europa.eu.

Ms Turtelboom will be sworn in before the European Court of Justice on 31 May 2018, together with the ECA Members Eva Lindström (Sweden), Tony Murphy (Ireland) and Hannu Takkula (Finland), who were appointed as earlier this year.

The Members, nominated by their respective governments, are appointed by the Council of the EU after consultation with the European Parliament. Their terms of office are renewable.

The ECA operates as a collegiate body of 28 Members, one from each Member State. They are required by the Treaty to perform their duties entirely independently and in the general interest of the EU.
