Three new ECA Members took up their duties today: Eva Lindström from Sweden, Tony Murphy from Ireland and Hannu Takkula i from Finland.

In addition, four current ECA Members started their new term of office today: Pietro Russo (Italy), Baudilio Tomé Muguruza (Spain), Bettina Michelle Jakobsen (Denmark), and João Figueiredo (Portugal).

The Members, nominated by their respective governments, were appointed or re-appointed by the Council of the EU i after consultation with the European Parliament. Their terms of office are renewable.

The College of Members will meet shortly to assign each new Member to one of the five audit chambers and determine their specific duties. An updated organisation chart, along with their CVs and declarations of interests, will then be published on the ECA website eca.europa.eu.

The ECA operates as a collegiate body of 28 Members, one from each Member State. They are required by the Treaty to perform their duties entirely independently and in the general interest of the EU. New ECA Members will shortly be sworn in before the European Court of Justice.
