Winter plan for asylum-seekers: Wednesday morning debate

Met dank overgenomen van Europees Parlement (EP) i, gepubliceerd op dinsdag 14 november 2017.

MEPs want a winter plan for the thousands of asylum seekers living in precarious conditions across the EU as the cold approaches.

In a debate starting at around 10.45 on Wednesday morning, they will ask Commissioner Dimitiris Avramopoulos and the Estonian Council presidency for measures to prevent a humanitarian crisis.

You can watch the plenary debate via EP Live, and EbS+.

Parliament is set to confirm its negotiating mandate this week for a review of the Dublin Regulation, which establishes the EU country responsible for processing an asylum application. MEPs aim to ensure that all member states assume their fair share of responsibility for hosting asylum seekers, so as to ensure that most do not end up concentrated in in a few front-line countries.
