Minute’s silence for victims of terrorism in Marseille, Las Vegas and Edmonton

EP President Antonio Tajani i commemorated those who died in recent terrorist attacks in Marseille, Las Vegas and Edmonton, at the opening of the session in Strasbourg.

President Tajani regretted the fact that once again, the Parliament’s opening “called for us to remember victims of international terrorism. This is becoming a regular occurrence.” Referring to the two women attacked and killed in Marseille on Sunday, the President said: “Equality between men and women is one of the bedrocks of the EU i, and a hallmark of our way of thinking and living. Attacking women attacks those most precious to us all.” The EU would keep on defending EU values until terrorism has been defeated, President Tajani said.

He expressed full support and condolences to those affected by the attack and praised the valiant response of the emergency services. He also remembered those attacked in Edmonton, Canada on Saturday.

Following this, the plenary held a minute of silence to remember the innocent victims of these terrorist attacks.
