Commemorative stamp produced for Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU

Tomorrow, on 13 May, Eesti Post will launch a commemorative stamp priced at €1.40, to mark the first time Estonia will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The stamp was designed by the artist Indrek Ilves and printed by the Vaba Maa printing agency. There will be a limited run of 30 000 of the stamps.

To celebrate the launch of the commemorative stamp of the Estonian Presidency, Prime Minister Jüri Ratas i sent a symbolic postcard to the latest e-Residents in all member states of the European Union. Postcards with a greeting from the Prime Minister were also sent to President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker i and President of the European Council Donald Tusk i.

The postcard is on sale in Eesti Post outlets across Estonia starting from tomorrow. From tomorrow, Eesti Post‘s Tallinn post office, on Narva maantee 1, offers a first-day stamp for customers who buy the stamp and the postcard together.

Estonian will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first time from the beginning of July to the end of December this year. In the Council of the EU, member states make decisions that affect the lives of the EU’s 500 million citizens. The presidency’s task is striking a balance between the national interests of 28 member states and decisions that advance the EU as a whole. The aims of the Estonian Presidency are to make Europe more innovative, digital, inclusive and safe.
