The Cabinet will meet with the leading officials of the European Commission
The Government members will meet with Secretary-General of the European Commission i Alexander Italianer and Head of Cabinet of the President of the European Commission Martin Selmayr today, on 16 March. The meeting will focus on the cooperation between the European Commission and the Presidency of the Council of the European Union i, the Government’s visit to the European Commission in Brussels, and the priorities of Estonia’s Presidency.
After the discussion with the Cabinet, Italianer and Selmayr will meet with State Secretary Heiki Loot and the management of the EU Secretariat of the Government Office in order to obtain an overview of preparations concerning Estonia’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and discuss the European Commissioners’ visit to Estonia. As a matter of good practice, the Presidency will be opened with the visit of the President of the European Commission and all Commissioners to the country of Presidency.
In the afternoon, Italianer and Selmayr will meet with the leading officials of the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications, and the Ministry of the Interior with whom they discuss in detail the most important sectoral topics of the Presidency.
