Statement by President Tajani on the recent earthquakes in Italy

The newly elected President of the European Parliament Antonio Tajani i expressed Parliament's solidarity with the victims and their families of a number of recent earthquakes in Italy and a landslide which engulfed a hotel yesterday.

Mr Tajani said he will do his utmost to help the Commission in quickly freeing up aid from the EU Solidarity Fund. He also thanked the Italian rescue services for their strenuous efforts coming to the aid of the victims.
