Europe in the best

possible way”

The Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency 2017 and EU Funds, Dr Ian Borg officially announced a number of principal partners that will be giving their support during the six months of the Maltese Presidency of the Council of the EU.

In a press conference at the Grand Master's Palace in Valletta, Dr Borg visited the Media Centre and the Plenary room where the Informal Ministerial Meetings of the Maltese Presidency will be held. Parliamentary Secretary Ian Borg stated that he was optimistic that our country was ready to host around 20,000 delegates and 1,500 journalists attending the various meetings linked with the Presidency of the Council of the EU

This meeting was also attended by Mr. Kurt Camilleri, on behalf of GO plc and Mr. John Bundy, on behalf of PBS. The Parliamentary Secretary expressed his gratitude towards GO and PBS for accepting the call to become the Presidency’s official parters and give their support in order for this event to be successful. "I’m convinced that with the technical expertise that these entities have in their own respective sectors, Malta will be of great service and will deliver its message across Europe in the best possible way." said Dr Borg

GO is the Presidency’s official partner in the field of technology and communication. It will be providing services such as fibre internet, Wi-Fi and 4G internet as well as telephony, television and video conferencing solutions in the Grand Master's Palace and in Dar Malta in Brussels.

On the other hand, PBS will be the main broadcaster for the Presidency meetings to be held in Malta as from January 2017. This agreement stipulates a live streaming service for some of the meetings to be held inside the Grand Master’s Palace in Valletta and elsewhere. PBS is also committed to offer technical assistance within the Media Centre. As a part of the arrangements for the broadcasting of information to the public, PBS will be allocating some timeslots for advertising both on TVM and on Radju Malta, while keeping the television viewers informed about the programme EU2017MT, which airs every Monday on TVM.

On another positive note, the EU2017MT television programme ranked first as the most viewed programme across all stations in its timeslot on Monday.
