Notwithstanding being in different regions, Malta and Denmark find a lot of common ground
... Malta and Denmark have many common
positions including topics that will be on top of the
agenda when Malta takes over the Council of
the European Union.
The priorities for the EU Presidency that will be led by Malta from the first of January next year, were also the object of discussion in a meeting between the Prime Minister of Denmark Lars Lokke Rasmussen and the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat described the Prime Minister Rasmussen, as an effective interlocutor that has an influence on the most important issues for Scandinavia. He said that it was significant that two countries in different regions such as Malta and Denmark, have many common positions including topics that will be placed on the top of the agenda when Malta takes over the Council of the European Union.
On the other hand, the Danish Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction for the visit of the Maltese Prime Minister and considered these talks, in preparation for the EU presidency, as highly valuable. He said that he was looking forward to establish close cooperation with Malta in the first six months of next year. He also stressed that we need a strong European Union to address the important priorities that were formulated by Malta, amongst which is the issue of migration.
Prime Minister Joseph Muscat left Copenhagen to visit Budapest where later on today, he will meet the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
