The challenges arising from migration dominated yet another official meeting of the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat which, this time, was in Warsaw with the Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo as a part of a series of talks organised by the Maltese government before the EU presidency.

It was an open discussion between two sides that spoke openly on their different positions. Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that this meeting shows the attitude with which Malta will lead the Council of the European Union. The Prime Minister said that “this will be a presidency that builds relationships with countries that have different views”. Hoping that everyone agrees with everything is useless, thus we need to build bridges between all the different forces.

In a meeting with the Polish Prime Minister Beata Szydlo, the Prime Minister, together with the Minister for European Affairs and Implementation of the Electoral Manifesto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Parliamentary Secretary for the EU Presidency and EU funds, mentioned the other priorities of the Maltese Presidency including the importance that will be attached to the single market, with a particular focus on economic growth and job creation, and with a view to social inclusion.

Both sides also spoke on the impact of Brexit and the process that will soon be conducted in the European Union.
