Malta and Ireland with the same practical ideas to find European solutions

This is a clear sign that Malta and Ireland will

have more opportunities to constructively work

together.

In Dublin, Ireland, the Prime Minister Joseph Muscat held talks with the Irish Prime Minister Enda Kenny, in one of a series of meetings organised by the Maltese Government before taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The meeting necessarily focused on the UK’s exit from the European Union and the strong impact this will have on Ireland. The issues of migration, economic and financial governance were also discussed in the context of the single market.

The Prime Minister said that this meeting was a confirmation that the two countries had many convergent views. Joseph Muscat stated that "as two member states with an interest in finding European solutions, Malta and Ireland have the same views".

This is a clear sign that Malta and Ireland will have more opportunities to constructively work together.

In these meetings with influential EU states and other regionally powerful states, the Prime Minister is being accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister Louis Grech, the Minister for Foreign Affairs George W. Vella, and by the Parliamentary Secretary for the 2017 EU Presidency and EU Funds, Ian Borg.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has left Dublin and is now on his way to Berlin where he will meet the German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
