Joint statement on the situation in Turkey

We condemn the attempted coup in Turkey and reiterate our full support to the democratic institutions of the country.

We are in contact with the Turkish authorities and continue to closely monitor events. We regret the loss of lives and extend our condolences to the families of the victims as well as to those injured. We call for an end to the use of violence and for continued restraint and responsibility to be shown by the police and security forces to prevent further casualties. Societal tensions can only be addressed through democratic processes.
