High Representative Federica Mogherini i met today with Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi to discuss the developments in EU-Kosovo relations and the significant progress made over the past months in particular. They agreed that a swift and thorough implementation of the Stabilisation and Association Agreement is crucial as it will help Kosovo to improve its socio-economic situation.

They also welcomed the recent extension of the mandate of EULEX by the Assembly of Kosovo. Discussing visa liberalisation for the people of Kosovo, Mogherini made it clear that the EU is willing to proceed, and that Kosovo needs to continue to fulfil the commitments it has made in this context.

Mogherini and Thaçi also discussed the EU-facilitated dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina. The High Representative welcomed Kosovo’s commitment to the dialogue, and stressed that a visible and sustainable improvement in relations between Kosovo and Serbia is necessary so that normalisation of relations can take deeper root and both can continue on their respective European paths.

She underlined the importance of all past dialogue agreements being implemented fully and in good faith by both sides.
