Opening: minute’s silence for Gianluca Buonanno

President Schulz opened the session by calling a minute’s silence for MEP Gianluca Buonanno i, who was killed in a car crash on Sunday. Since 2014, Mr Buonanno (ENF, IT) had been a member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, and of the ACP-EU Parliamentary Assembly.

President Schulz conveyed Parliament’s condolences to Mr Buonanno’s family, friends and the people of Borgosesia, where he had been Mayor for many years. He also wished a speedy recovery to Mrs Buonanno, who was injured in the same crash.
