P. Auštrevičius deplores the deadly bomb and gun attack in Kabul

Petras Auštrevičius i (ALDE, LT), Chair of the European Parliament’s delegation for relations with Afghanistan, strongly condemned yesterday's bomb and gun attack in Kabul sending his condolences to the victims' families. He encouraged the Afghan government and international community to enhance their counter-terrorism and anti-radicalisation efforts.

P. Auštrevičius issued the following statement: “On behalf of the European Parliament delegation for relations with Afghanistan, I strongly condemn yesterday's bomb and gun attack in Kabul and wish to extend my sincere condolences to the families of the victims. Security is a precondition for political stability and economic development. For this reason, I urge the Afghan government to do everything in its power to provide a more stable security environment.

The EU on its part must do its utmost to support the Afghan people in building a functioning state, which can assure the security of its citizens. I encourage the Afghan government and international community to enhance their counter-terrorism and anti-radicalisation efforts".
