Green Week 2016 will focus on the theme of investing for a greener future. This year’s edition of Green Week, running from 30 May 2016 to 3 June 2016, will put the spotlight on how to achieve smart, sustainable and inclusive growth in Europe. Topics to be addressed include innovation for greener cities, sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, the role of innovative instruments in mobilising financing and 'blue growth' (marine and maritime sector growth).

Green Week 2016 will include a one-day conference in Brussels, on 1 June 2016, which will be complemented by online activities and partner events elsewhere in the EU. The Brussels day will also feature the LIFE Nature & Environment Best awards ceremonies.

Green Week 2016 encourages a wide participation from potential partners, who can organise an online debate, provide video material and stories suitable for social media, propose speakers, organise a dedicated activity on the focus areas of one of the days' events, or link an already planned event or activity with Green Week.

LIFE projects are therefore being actively encouraged to coordinate their events in May and June with Green Week in order to benefit from extra exposure on the Green Week website. Any event relevant to the theme taking place in May and June 2016 can qualify. For more information, contact secretariat@greenweek2016.eu.

Each day of Green Week focuses on different aspects of investing for a greener future. The official opening event in Ljubljana will address the issue of investing for greener cities, while the following day will focus on investing in our countryside.

Investments that make it happen’ is the topic of Wednesday (1 June) with the final two days focusing on investments in oceans and future generations, respectively. In addition, the 10th Group on Earth Observation (GEO) European Projects Workshop being held in Berlin coincides with Green Week.
