Portugal elects former TV pundit as president

Portugal elected ex-MEP Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, a former TV pundit from the centre-right Social Democratic Party, as president on Sunday with 52% of the vote. The post is largely ceremonial but could be key to maintaining political stability in a country with a fragile new government.
