High Representative addresses European Parliament plenary session

On Tuesday and Wednesday, High Representative Federica Mogherini i addresses the first plenary session of the European Parliament of 2016 on a number of topical issues.

On Tuesday evening, she speaks about the Colombian Peace Process. She then moves on to a debate on the continuing grave situation in Syria, before discussing with MEPs the recent tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

On Wednesday evening, the High Representative debates with the parliament the systematic mass murder of religious minorities by ISIS, then the EU’s Mutual Defence Clause (Article 42(7) TEU) and finally the EU’s priorities for the 2016 sessions of the UN Human Rights Council.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Dutch Council Presidency delivers a speech on her behalf on the humanitarian situation in Yemen. Johannes Hahn i, Commissioner for Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, gives speeches on her behalf on the situation in the South East of Turkey, and the Association Agreements/Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreements with Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
