Sonja van Renssen, leading climate and energy journalist, is joined by Jonathan Taylor, European Investment Bank (EIB) Vice-President responsible for Environment and Climate Action to discuss the EIB’s agenda on climate. Climate change is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenge the world is to tackle and the EIB Group’s being the largest multilateral provider of climate finance in the world clearly sets up a new deal towards climate-friendly policies. The new climate lending strategy will introduce new changes at the Bank, notably through ‘putting greater emphasis on the impact of its lending, on innovation and energy efficiency’, suggested Taylor. Amongst other priorities, the EIB is committed to expanding its geographical field of action to central-Eastern Europe and to keeping providing loans across the Globe to help better tackle climate change.
