A non-binding resolution aimed at combatting terrorism and radicalisation in Europe has received the overwhelming backing of MEPs. Drafted by French conservative member, Rachida Dati i, it calls for more powers to share intelligence between member states, and recommends pressing criminal charges against internet companies that refuse to delete illegal content propagating extremism. It also focuses on longer-term goals such as educating children to recognise online propaganda, and improving the social prospects and integration of minority groups.

Doru Frantescu, policy director at Votewatch Europe, analyses the vote in detail.
