European Union and League of Arab States representatives met on 24-25 November 2015 in Brussels
Today in Brussels, the EU and LAS officially launched the Strategic Dialogue between both organisations, and the fourth meeting of the EU Political and Security Committee (PSC) and the League of Arab States Permanent Representatives took place.
The Ambassadors held constructive discussions on common challenges, with a particular focus on recent terrorist attacks, as well as on the Middle East Peace Process, Syria, Libya, Yemen and the refugees' and migration crisis. Sharing concerns about the political and security situation, they welcomed the expansion of the Euro-Arab partnership as an adequate regional response.
Within the framework of the launch of the EU-LAS Strategic Dialogue, progress has been made on the Euro-Arab practical cooperation, particularly in the fields of conflict prevention, early warning and crisis management, humanitarian assistance, counter-terrorism, transnational organised crime and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. Staff from both organisations will be meeting to jointly work on these topics in the future.
