German and Austrian border controls compliant with EU law

Border controls reintroduced by Germany and Austria in September "as well as the subsequent prolongations, are in compliance with the Schengen Borders Code," the European Commission said in anopinion published Friday. The Commission considers the decisions were "motivated by the serious threat to the internal security and public policy".
