Portugal: Passos Coelho asked to form minority government

Portuguese president Anibal Cavaco Silva asked outgoing PM Pedro Passos Coelho i on Thursday to form a government despite lacking a majority in parliament. Passos Coelho's centre-right coalition finished first in the 4 October election. Cavaco Silva said the alternative majority between socialists and communists would be supported by "anti-European forces".
