Relocation of 160,000 asylum seekers to start this week

The EU plans to start the relocation of some 160,000 asylum seekers from Italy and Greece to other member states on Friday (9 October). A European Commission spokesperson told reporters in Brussels that the first batch will be Eritreans sent to Sweden from Italy.
