The Luxembourg Presidency of the EU delivered the European Union instrument of accession agreement on trade facilitation

On the occasion of the meeting of G20 Trade Ministers on 5 October 2015, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn, acting as President of the Foreign Affairs Council (Trade) will travel to Istanbul in order to transmit to the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Roberto Azevedo, in the presence of the European Commissioner for Trade, Cecilia Malmström i, the instrument of accession of the European Union to the Trade Facilitation Agreement finalised during the 9th WTO Ministerial Meeting in Bali in December 2013.

Adherence to the agreement will represent a major success in the negotiations under the Doha Development Agenda launched in 2001 and will contribute to boosting the global economy in the years ahead, in particular through trade facilitation.
