Met dank overgenomen van viEUws - The EU Policy Broadcaster, gepubliceerd op woensdag 8 juli 2015.
In this special briefing, Lénaïc Vaudin d’Imécourt - Trade Editor of EU Trade Insights - picks out the top 5 trade issues that will be discussed by the European institutions under the Luxembourg Presidency:
-
-The TTIP: always a priority for the successive presidencies of the Council. The Luxembourg Presidency will have a key role to play as the Commission is looking at having a skeleton of the deal in early 2016.
-
-The 10th WTO Ministerial Conference will be taking place in December in Nairobi. Members will be looking at reaching agreements on the post-Bali package.
-
-Environmental Goods Agreement: Green Goods negotiators are currently trying to cut down the number of goods listed so far. The aim is to conclude before the end of this year.
-
-Bilateral Free Trade Agreements with Vietnam and Japan - The Vietnam accord should be concluded under the Luxembourg Presidency. On Japan, the Presidency has pledged to do its utmost to make as much progress as possible.
-
-And finally, the presidency is taking over several legislative files: the informal trialogue on conflict minerals, the international procurement instrument, and maybe even the modernisation of trade defence instruments - should the Commission make new proposals.
