Heads of EUPAN institutions agree on the future of European public administration
The 64th meeting of the heads of institutions of the European Public Administration Network (EUPAN) and Trade Unions' National and European Administration Delegation (TUNED) concluded with a resolution on the development of public administration of the EU Member States. The meeting was organised by the Latvian State Chancellery within the framework of the Latvian Presidency of the EU Council.
On the first day of the EUPAN meeting on 11 June, the heads of public administration institutions met and agreed on effective tools for the modernisation of public administration, the medium-term objectives, and EUPAN tasks during the Luxembourg Presidency of the EU Council. On 12 June, the floor was given to the representatives of TUNED who emphasised the need to strengthen the role of social partners in public administration.
"The EUPAN meeting focused on the future of public administration of the EU Member States, Norway and Turkey by attracting young experts, developing programme for senior managers, and focusing activities of government centres on customers - the society. During the meeting special attention was devoted to the operating principles of the Fiscal Discipline Council and the Latvia's example of the impact of expertise. The Member States welcomed this instrument," says Eva Upīte, Deputy Director of the Sate Chancellery for Public Administration and Human Resource Development Affairs.
EUPAN's mission is to improve the performance, competitiveness and quality of European public administration institutions by developing new tools and methods in the field of public administration, based on the exchange of opinions, experiences and good practices by participants. EUPAN's members are representatives from institutions responsible for public administration issues from the EU Member States, Norway and Turkey, as well as representatives from the European Commission and the European Institute of Public Administration.
