EU border agency expands Mediterranean operation

The EU's border agency, Frontex, on Tuesday expanded the operational area of its Mediterranean surveillance mission Triton. Triton will now operate up to 138 nautical miles south of Sicily and will deploy three airplanes, six offshore patrol vessels, 12 patrol boats, two helicopters, nine debriefing and six screening teams.
