European jihadists number around 6,000

Nearly 6,000 Europeans have left the continent to join jihadist groups in Syria and elsewhere, EU justice commissioner Vera Jourova i told French paper Le Figaro. In January, Europol head Rob Wainwright said the number of 'foreign fighters' from Europe was “about 3 to 5,000 EU nationals".
