Schulz on the outcome of nuclear negotiations with Iran

"I salute the historic deal reached today at the end of long and difficult negotiations between E3+3 representatives and Iran.

This landmark agreement is a major contribution to international security, increases mutual confidence and will bring relief to the economy of Iran, to the benefit of its people. Cooperation and dialogue have succeeded over confrontation and isolation.

The technical details of this political agreement must now be successfully ironed out before the June deadline, building on the trust and momentum which led to today's breakthrough.

The European Parliament welcomes the brokering role played by the EU High Representative Federica Mogherini i and her predecessor Catherine Ashton i. Negotiation, diplomacy and the advancement of a 'win-win' approach is in Europe's nature since its inception. Today, this has once more been proven true."
