EP committee approves rules that limit plastic bag use

The European Parliament's environment committee on Tuesday approved new rules on the use of plastic bags. EU countries may choose to ban free plastic bags in shops, or make sure that by 2019 each citizen uses no more than 90 bags annually. The final plenary vote is on 28 April.
