Up to 1 million asylum seeking migrants in Libya

EU counter-terrorism coordinator Gilles de Kerchove i on Monday said there are between 500,000 and 1 million people in Libya waiting to cross the Mediterranean sea to seek asylum or refuge in Europe. Turmoil in Libya has helped make the country the main departure point from north Africa to the EU.
