Signing of the Joint Declaration
A new Joint Declaration on the relationships between the EU and Greenland was signed by President Jean-Claude Juncker, Greenlandic Premier Kim Kielsen and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt.
By updating the Joint Declaration signed in 2006 a new cycle in the relations between the European Union and Greenland has been launched. The Joint Declaration provides an umbrella-framework for the relations between the EU, Greenland and Denmark. It confirms the long lasting links and reiterates the geostrategic importance of the relationship. It also defines the financial cooperation and frames the policy dialogue in areas of mutual interest such as various arctic matters, natural resources and environment.
