The 2nd Annual EU-Arab Seminar on Political and Security Issues was held at the EEAS on 19-20 January 2015. The seminar brought together EU and Arab security policy experts to discuss security-related topics and ways for cooperation.

Through interactive thematic sessions, we keep working together to tackle the common challenges Europe and the Arab world are facing.

This was the second annual seminar on political and security matters with the Directors/High Level Representatives of the Arab security/defence institutes took place in the headquarters of the EEAS in Brussels.

The seminar sought to bring together directors and high level representatives from the institutes/academia in the Arab countries (one delegate per country), some representatives of the EU think-tanks as well as the hierarchy of the EU institutions (both military and civilian).

It provided participants with the opportunity to freely discuss security-related regional topics (under Chatham House rules) and cooperation possibilities.

The event was organised under the auspices of the EEAS Executive Secretary General, Pierre Vimont and coincided with the visit to Brussels of Dr Nabil El Araby, the Secretary General of the League of Arab States.
