Development cooperation: post-2015 Agenda, migration, refugees, gender, Ebola on the table of the Foreign Affairs Council today

A meeting of EU Ministers for development cooperation within the Foreign Affairs Council took place today in Brussels, chaired by High Representative / Vice President Federica Mogherini i and with the participation of European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica i.

On the agenda featured the post-2015 framework which will guide the international community's efforts towards sustainable development, migration and refugees in the context of development, and the work on a new EU action plan on gender. In the presence of EU Ebola Coordinator Christos Stylianides i, the ministers also discussed the EU's response to the spread of Ebola, both in the short and medium term.

During her press conference, HR/VP Federica Mogherini referred to this Council meeting as "an excellent chance to discuss with the ministers about the way to put development at the centre of the EU foreign policy. Development and cooperation (…) is a key instrument for both the prevention of crisis and conflict, the promotion and protection of human rights and democracy, and is also an excellent tool to manage.
