College meets with Latvian government ahead of its EU Presidency
At its weekly meeting, the College received the Latvian government to prepare the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union which will start on 1 January 2015.
The Commission received the Latvian government on 3 December in Brussels to exchange views and prepare the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union which will start on 1 January 2015.
Besides the meeting with the Latvian government, the College also held an orientation debate on the Commission's work programme for 2015. This work programme will translate President Juncker's Political Guidelines on the basis of which he was elected by the European Parliament into concrete initiatives.
On 3 December the European Commission also paid a loan of €500 million to Ukraine as part of the EU Macro-Financial Assistance (MFA) facility for the country. This disbursement adds to the €860 million disbursed since May under the two ongoing EU MFA programmes (See the press release for more information).
