Germany bows to pressure and accepts EU trade deal

Germany will accept an EU trade deal with Canada despite inclusion of controversial investor protection clauses hampering regulation of environmental protection and consumer safety. “If the rest of Europe wants this agreement, then Germany will agree too. There’s no other option,” economy minister Sigmar Gabriel told the Bundestag on Thursday.
